West Coast Eagles

Our students enjoyed a special online meeting with 10 West Coast Eagles players, including Harley Reid, Bo Allan, Willem Duursma and Tom Gross. They learned what it takes to play AFL at the elite level, from the physical and mental toughness required, to starting footy as young as age 4 (with one player beginning at 21).

Players spoke about injuries such as broken feet, shoulder reconstructions and torn ACLs, reminding students just how demanding professional sport can be. They also shared their game day nutrition: carb loading with pasta, rice and garlic bread, then recovering with protein snacks and Gatorade.

The highlight was hearing how electric the atmosphere is when playing at Optus Stadium in front of fans and family. The session wrapped up with plenty of laughs, including a cheeky joke about the Eagles winning 6 or 7 games. A fantastic experience for our students.
